Nr. 10: “Always be Kiwi” by Oosh Multimedia

To be fair, it is not an original song. It is a parody of Snoop dogs “Young, wild and free”. Of course it makes you laugh but on the other hand you get information on clichés, typical NZ things from real New Zealanders!

Nr. 9: “All The Way” by TY (feat. Peter T & Donnel Lewis)

Peter T is from New Zealand and one of the most famous Hip Hop artits there.
The song came in out in July 2015 and has almost half a million views on Youtube. It was very popular in the youth of New Zealand and was a Radio hit.

Nr. 8: “Something in the Water” by Brooke Fraser

Brooke Fraser is one of the few New Zealand artist that made a Song popular in Europe and even America. “Something in The Water” came out in 2010 and was a huge hit. She is from Wellington.

Nr. 7: “Six Months in a Leaky Boat”, by Split Enz

Split Enz is one of the most known bands in New Zealand. The band had a couple of hits including “I Got You” and “I Hope I Never”. A lot of Split Enz Songs are featured on the APRA 100 list, a list that contains the 100 most popular songs of all time from New Zealand.

Nr. 6: “Renegade Fighter” by Zed

Not to be mistaken with the Dj ZED. The song “Renegade Fighter” was featured in the TV-series “Smallville” and because of this became famous. In 2000 it was the Number 1 Song in New Zealand.

Nr. 5: “U can’t resist us” by King Kapisi

The song was the most successfull one for King Kapisi. He is a well known Hip Hop / Reggae artist from New Zealand who performed along with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Black Eyed Peas and Moby. King Kapisis songs are known for being related to his heritage, Wellington and Samoa.

Nr. 4: “Can’t get enough” by Supergroove

Another famous band from New Zealand. Their song “Can’t get enough” reached number 1 in 1994. The band splitted up but reunited in 2007. In 2011 they were invited to the VNZMA (Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards) to perform a tribute to an old New Zealand band called “Dragon”.

Many people argue that they are even better now than they were before in the 90's.

Nr. 3: “Oh my” by Gin Wigmore

She was born in Auckland and being 14 years old her dad passed away. She travelled to Argentina and wrote “Hallelujah” a tribute song for her father. Withuot knowledge her sister sent the mentioned song to the US based International Songwriting Competition in 2004. Wig won and her career started. She is known for her raspy high voice. “Oh my” was until today her most successful song.

Nr. 2: “Bridges” by Broods

The brother-sister duo became famous in 2014 and is one of New Zealands promising new breakthrough talents. Their sound is very modern and electro based. Their first Album “Evergreen” was number 1 in New Zealand in 2014. I’m positive that we are going to hear a lot from them.

Nr. 1: “Royals” by Lorde

When talking about Music we cannot ignore Lorde. In 2013 her song “Royals” dropped and even became number 1 in the US and of course several other countries including New Zealand. Born in Takapuna and being 19 years old she is one of the most famous artists in New Zealand.
