Zipline Park :)

Since it’s summertime in New Zealand, I thought I would write something about what you can do in NZ when you’re an adventurous person. So, here is what I found:

There is a place called EcoZip Adventures on Waiheke Island, which is a zipline adventure park. To get to Waiheke Island, you can take two ferries. One is Fullers Ferry, which departs from Devonport, Auckland and takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Waiheke Island. The second is Sealink Ferry, which departs from either Auckland (from where it takes 80 minutes to reach Waiheke Island) or Half Moon Bay (from where it takes 45 to 60 minutes to reach the island (don’t ask me why the time changes, I don’t know)).

When you book the EcoZip Adventure Tour for the adventure park, you’ll get picked up at Matiatia Ferry Terminal on Waiheke Island. In the adventure park itself, there are three 200m long flying fox ziplines with dual cables, allowing you to fly side-by-side a friend or family member. The first zipline has you fly over EcoZip’s own vineyards, on the second you will fly over beautiful forests with views of Auckland some 25km away and on the last one there will be a surprise for you (the website won’t reveal what it is, so you will have to wait and see). You will also do an easy 1.4km guided nature walk, on which you will explore pristine, pre-European native forest.

Should you long for a quiet moment to relax, there is a Visitor Centre located on Waiheke Island’s second highest point with an architect-designed viewing deck that allows for magnificent views over the island as well as the city of Auckland in the distance.

In terms of prices: A child can enjoy the EcoZip experience for 79 NZ$, an adult will have to pay 119 NZ$ and a family of four will pay 317 NZ$ (so that one child is basically for free).

If this short summary of some of the things that you can do at EcoZip Adventures got you interested, you can visit their website following this link: https://www.ecozipadventures.co.nz/. I can say that if I ever find myself in Auckland, I will most certainly take a trip to Waiheke Island to go ziplining.
