Before making any sync, you need to know clearly iPhone sync’s function. In iPhone, you can sync apps, audio content, bookmarks, book, contacts, calendars, movie and TV shows, photos, notes, document and ringtones. You can sync your iPhone’s data to not only PC but also iCloud. In this article, I will guide how to sync iPhone’s data to iCloud. Let’s rock now.

  • Go to settings on your iPhone.

  • Tab iCloud on settings page and then fill your Apple ID and password.
icloud-login

Note: If you haven’t Apple ID, tab “Get a Free Apple ID” and then, sign up for Apple ID. You can also signup at www.icloud.com .

  • After logging in to your iCloud on your iPhone, iCloud sync option will appear and ask you to “Merge or Don’t Merge”. I recommend you to merge. Because merge makes your iPhone contacts, bookmarks, photos, etc. to exchange information on both iCloud and iPhone. For example, if you have one contact on iPhone and three contacts on iCloud, using merge function will make both iPhone and iCloud to end up with 4 contacts. These means that your contact on iCloud will reach to iPhone and your contacts on iPhone also reach to iCloud. If you select “Don’t’ Merge”, this merging function will not work.

  • Now, iCloud will ask to determine location of your iPhone. I’m strongly recommend you to allow location. Because allowing location on iPhone will let you use Find my iPhone feature that will determine your iPhone’s location status, iPhone lock, sending message and remote data wiping when your iPhone is stolen or lost.
  • Although iCloud syncs the content by default, you can’t sync note feature if your Apple ID is not @me.com or @icloud.com. If you signup on iCloud.com, there is no problem. But if you registered Apple ID at https://appleid.apple.com with custom email address, you can’t sync note feature. iPhone’s note sync only work with email address @me.com or @icloud.com. The best way to OK all sync functions and features, I recommend you to signup at iCloud.com. Don’t signup at appleid.apple.com. If you have registered on appleid.apple.com, you should resign-up at iCloud.com to sync iPhone’s note feature.

Conclusion

Now you are making sync process on iPhone, and you can backup this synced data from iCloud when your iPhone is stolen, or miss placed. You can also access your synced data from iCloud when you are away from iPhone. You only need a computer with active internet connection.
