Now You Can Run Full Ubuntu Linux With Unity On Windows 10

Microsoft plans to bring the Ubuntu on Windows 10 by integrating Linux subsystems. These complete version of functionality will be released with Windows 10 Anniversary Update and you can run Ubuntu’s bash on Windows 10. It means that you can run Linux software using a command-line interface via Ubuntu sub-system. This preview version has been available for download in April and some users are able to test desktop Linux apps running via Windows 10.

Unity is the default desktop environment for Ubuntu but it isn’t enabled by default for Ubuntu on Window. But recently, a developer has been able to run the complete Ubuntu Linux with Unity desktop. A Github user “Guerra24” has found a way to do this and he managed to run Unity inside Windows Linux Subsystem (WLS) by making different changes in the CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM) GUI tool for Compiz. He also made a combination of XLaunch and VcXsrv for configuring and setting up a Windows X server. The operation system version he tested is Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS. Although it’s just not applicable for Unity, programmer was able to run xfce4 as instead. However, this trick resulted in more bugs.
