Creating a Modern Business School: NewCampus joins Amazon’s AWS EdStart Program

NewCampus is a live group learning platform for developing modern business and leadership skills. Based in Singapore, they allow people and businesses in Asia to boost their leadership and business skills at 1% of the cost of an MBA.

Together with some of the world’s leading EduTech startups, NewCampus is joining Amazon’s AWS Edstart program this year. The program is designed to help innovative companies build the next generation of online learning, analytics, and education management solutions, incorporating cloud technologies.

“We believe better leaders will build better businesses, which will ultimately be a driving force for some of our most pressing problems,” says Will Fan, Co-Founder at NewCampus. “Working with the AWS team allows us to build the future classroom, providing learning experiences both effective and scalable.

Executive education for rising managers

NewCampus offers a range of learning and networking experiences, from interactive workshops to intimate virtual mentoring sessions with industry leaders and speakers. The classes and other learning formats at NewCampus are led by experts in their own field, and where small groups of learners are supported by a blend of interactive exercises, discussions and tools.

The ideal learner with NewCampus is someone who leads a small team from a small- and medium-sized business (SMB), since SMBs make up over 95% of companies in Asia and 70% of the workforce. Their clients range from boutique interior agencies all the way to 200-person e-commerce startups.

Future of learning for leaders with AWS

NewCampus is releasing the next iteration of their web app this year, thanks to the support of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and their suite of digital services for remote communications and learning.

With this user-friendly app, their community of colearners will not only be able to fit learning into their lifestyles more seamlessly with its booking features, the app will also help and guide them with their learning and growth, through learning assessments based on the latest research in cognitive and behavioural science.

In the near future, the app will house education resources such as content libraries and class discussions for colearners. This provides learners the opportunity to do collaborative inquiry-based learning, whereby learners from diverse backgrounds can combine their unique perspectives, knowledge and expertise to solve complex problems. In effect, such a feature will help foster a learning culture where knowledge is co-created in digital learning environments.

“We chose AWS for its scalability, adaptive performance and security,” says Eddy Chan, Chief Product Officer at NewCampus. “Their collection of cloud computing and data storage services have made our development of the app incredibly seamless. We’re expecting our technology to better manage feedback, data collection and make smarter recommendations for our learners.”

Among AWS’s services, NewCampus uses the Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) to set up, manage, and scale their logistical operations; the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) to protect their user’s data; and Amazon Chime to host their live workshops and sessions globally.

The inclusive global business school

With the boom of SMBs and the jobs coming from them out of the COVID-19 pandemic, NewCampus expects the next wave of companies will all require business and leadership development.

“We’re already seeing results that we’re serving an underserved audience within SMBs. 90% of our clients are from outside of business or finance industries, and 70% of our learners are women,” says Fei Yao, Co-Founder at NewCampus.

Nonetheless, the AWS EdStart program will prove to be a significant contributor towards the success of upgrading NewCampus as a learning platform, and in becoming the business school for the changing world of business.
