Sites go down. Employees make mistakes. Your cat sits on the computer. That’s why you need to make sure your important Salesforce data is backed up…just in case.

Salesforce lets you generate a backup files manually once every 7 days for a weekly export or 29 days for a monthly export. These backup files can be imported to replace any missing or damaged information in your account.

Here’s how to do it:

Go to the Gear icon on the upper right side of the screen and choose Setup Home from the dropdown menu:

Type Data Export into the quick search box on the left side of the screen and select Data Export when the option pops up in the results:

You will be presented with the option to export your information now, or schedule a time for Salesforce to do it later.

Better now than never, my friend. Choose Export Now.

On the next screen you have the chance to choose exactly what you want to export and how. Tick the boxes you want and then click on Start Export.

When your export is ready for download you’ll get an email with a link to your file. You can also download directly from the export page. Hurry, though. The export files are only available on the export page for 48 hours and before they’re deleted.
