Want to get face-to-face in Slack? Now it’s possible to video chat with your group. Here’s how.

Click on the Phone icon at the top of the screen.

This will open a dialog box. Add a name to start a video call with a certain person, or just click Start new call to start an open call that everyone can join. Up to 15 people can be on a call at once.

Click the camera button to enable video and you’re golden.

Make sure your Slack Mac or Windows desktop apps are up-to-date before giving this a try for the best results.

The Upsides

It works just as well as other video call set-ups, but the beauty is you never need to leave Slack to stay in-touch with your co-workers. It also means that you don’t need to pay extra to set up an account for video calls on another platform.

The Downsides

The only downside is that you must have a paid Slack subscription to use the video call feature. Also, there is no screen sharing capability. You can share emojis, though. Just click on the Smiley Face icon.
