Mass shooting in school
This year, in May, the Texas school shooting shocked the world. It killed 19 elementary school students between the age of 7 and 10,two teachers and multiple people were injured. According to the reports, the gunman first shot his grandmother in another place and then driving away. After that, the gunman entered Robb Elementary School, where classes were being held. The gunman rushed into the classroom and began killing people. Later, firefight broke out between the gunman and the police. A few days later, an 11 years old survivor said she thought that the gunman would return to the classroom, so she smeared the blood of her classmates on her body and pretended to die.
Due to this incident, more and more people focused on why there is such a high number of school shootings in the United States. People said that the guns are too easy to get, and there is a general lack of supervision in the home. Some of people own a gun only when they are 18 years old. Another problem is that many shootings have resulted in imitation. The public can always see this kind of events occurred through the internet. People who feel lonely or have mental health problems may want to do the things like that.
Not only in the United States, there are also many other countries face the same problem. Therefore, the gun control law is necessary and it should be stricter if there is already have. The gun control can reduce people buying guns. In the absences of a gun control laws, firearm may be sold to some undocumented residents. It is too easy for them to get a gun. By doing so, guns are not sold casually to people, and shootings do not occur so frequently.It can also reduce gun deaths. Enacting even only the least controversial of gun control measures could help to cut down on gun-related deaths by a significant margin. If everyone had a gun, that would lead to an increase in crime. With stricter gun laws can help decreasing in both murders and suicides related to guns.
Schools and the police should cooperate with each other. Since almost 56 percent of mass shooting, the shooter established dangerous warning signs before the shooting. There may be someone saw the sign, and they would call the police. At the same time, the police should warn the schools and then check if it is true or not. Arranging some police officers to patrol areas where gun incidents are likely to occur is also necessary. Besides, schools should not allow strangers to enter so easily. It can lower the risk of mishap.
