Why Abortion Should Be Legalized?
An abortion is a procedure to end pregnancy. The pregnancy is ended either by taking medicines or having a surgical procedure. However, while the need for abortion is common, access to safe and legal abortion services is far from guaranteed for those in need. In fact, abortion access is one of the most highly controversial issues in the world, and the debate is misunderstood by misconceptions about the true consequences of restricting access to this basic healthcare service.
Using my home country as an example, there have been numerous reports of newborn babies being discovered in dumpsters or canals. I believe that in this case, most people would say, “Why should the mother wait until the baby is born?” or “Why would a mother do such a thing to a newborn?” and would prefer that the pregnancy be terminated sooner rather than waiting for the baby to be born and then throwing them away.
The issue is that many teenagers or young mothers are having unwanted pregnancies, and they are not mature or capable of raising a child, and they are also afraid of informing their family about their pregnancy because it is unwanted and most likely happened by accident. So, it leave them no choice but to do such a thing like throwing their baby away.
So why abortion should be legalized? The answer is even though many people are against abortion, abortion happens all the time regardless what the society or law says, and it was said that personhood or life begins after the baby is born, so in this case forbidding woman to have abortion doesn’t prevent them from doing it, it just makes abortion less safe. It’s better to provide them the healthcare service they needed, it’s part of human rights to receive healthcare service.
In conclusion, I agree that abortion should be legalized and provided professionally for women because women should be allowed to have control over their own bodies, by giving women reproductive choices it will protects them from financial disadvantage. Access to safe, legal abortions reduces the risk of maternal injury and death caused by unsafe, illegal abortions. It’s also bad for a baby to be born unwanted or to have a mother who isn’t prepared or capable of raising them.
