Why Do We Live When We Can NOT Live?
Have you ever thought and questioned “why do I live?” “What is the meaning of life?” “What is my purpose living?” “Why should I live in this world when I am going to die either way?” I feel like everyone has ever gone through that point in life where they question the meaning of life and their purpose of living, but sometimes even until now we still haven’t found out the answer to these questions. The meaning of is a profound question that explores the purpose and significance of human existence. These questions have been answered in beliefs through philosophy, religion, and individual perspective. In philosophy, the meaning of life has been a major topic of inquiry. Philosophers have proposed numerous theories, ranging from existentialism, which suggests that individuals create their own meaning through their choices and actions, to nihilism, which argues that life lacks inherent purpose. Humanism, on the other hand, emphasizes the importance of human values and experiences in giving life meaning.
Religious and spiritual traditions also provide a diverse perspective on the meaning of life. All religions provide and teaches every person who beliefs in it a different meaning of why they are in this world. For instance, Christianity teaches that the purpose of life is to know, love, and serve God, while Buddhism emphasizes the cessation of suffering and the attainment of enlightenment. These religious interpretations often provide moral guidance and a sense of community and belonging. Lastly, from an individual perspective, the meaning of life is often shaped by personal experiences, beliefs, and values. Each person may find meaning through relationships, achievements, personal growth, and contributions to society. The quest for meaning is a deeply personal journey, influenced by one’s unique circumstances and worldview. But even so, sometimes these are not enough. Sometimes even when we feel like we have the answer to the meaning of life, then again later in life we might question it again. In the end of the day, we are never sure of the answer.
Religions often said that the meaning of life is to serve God, do good things, increase your good charity, stay away from the evil and go with the light and so you will then receive great rewards after you pass away and you will live with God in the heavens. In which, heavens are said to be amazing, peace, all the good things. But then again, I, myself questioned, when why should we live? Why can’t we just stay in the heavens in first place? Why bother living in this cruel world when we can all live in peace? Why must God create human life just to make them die in a short span of time?
There are cases in which babies who were just born and then due to some problems only live for a short period of time, or sometimes maybe not even an hour. Then what is THEIR meaning of life if they haven’t even seen the world? But then I think, the answer is within ourselves. Those babies and kids who haven’t got to see the world aren’t capable of thinking what their meaning of life is. They haven’t got the time to question what their meaning and purpose of living is. Sometimes I still questioned it. There are times when us humans feel empty and we just don’t know where to go, which path should we take and then we questioned these question. But then again, the answer should be a motivation that will guide us through life and keep us going forward. It’s okay if there are times in life when we kept on questioning what is the meaning of life.
In conclusion, Everyone has a different answer of their own which is influenced by their beliefs. In the end of the day, there are never any right or wrong answer to these questions. Because no matter what, we already live up till today, and we will just kept going passing day by day until the day we are done living in this world, but until then, it is okay to question “what is the meaning of life?”. So to end this, what is your meaning of life?
