There is a small number of people who have never procrastinated in their lives, everyone procrastinates at some point in their lives. Procrastination is the act of delaying the completion of a task. The tasks range from schoolwork, housework to job-related tasks. In fact, humans have been procrastinating for generations. Even ancient Greek philosophers invented the term “akrasia”. “Lack of self-control” is the literal translation of “Akrasia”.

Have you ever had an exam and decided to clean your room instead of preparing for it? It’s known as procrastination. We avoid doing things because we can’t stand the negative feelings that come with them, such as anxiety or boredom. We distract our attention away from the things we should be doing by doing something else. Procrastination wastes a lot of our time since it is a delay in acting. Various negative impacts, such as poor academic performance, may result from it.

Because it makes us “feel good” when we do something else instead of something that we are responsible to. This would lead to us repeating the same thing until it became a habit. We are all aware that it might be difficult but not impossible to break a habit. To quit procrastinating, we must first recognize that what we are doing is procrastination. Set goals, watch inspiring movies, and most importantly, act.
