Japanese crypto-asset exchange GMO Coins announced that the exchange began handling crypto-assets OMG on July 22.

OMG will be handled by GMO Coin’s “Exchange” and “Crypto Asset FX Service”. GMO Coin is the first crypto-asset exchange in Japan to start handling OMG.

This is the first time GMO Coin has started handling crypto assets since the launch of the Basic Attendance Token (BAT) in March. With this announcement, GMO Coin will now handle BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC, XRP, XEM, XLM, BAT, and OMG, for a total of nine new currencies.

OMG is ERC-20 standard token issued primarily by Omise, a Thai online payment start-up, of which Jun Hasegawa is CEO. (Omise has now changed its name to OMG Networ).

Omise was incorporated with the launch of OmiseGO, a project designed to make the exchange of assets over the Internet easier. Vitalik Buterin, founder of Ethereum, is on board as an advisor to the project.

On July 22, the same day as GMO Coins, Japanese crypto-asset exchange FXcoin announced the start of handling the crypto-asset XRP. This is the second crypto asset FXcoin has dealt in crypto assets to date, following Bitcoin (BTC) and Ripple.
