A thank you note to our community and some exciting news!

It’s been quite a week for our nimble team at New/Mode.

I’d like to pause for a moment to thank you.

By ‘you’ I mean our community of civic engagement practitioners and experts, our dedicated team, impact investors, and all of you that have used New/Mode’s platform to take a civic action.

Why the thank you now?

A lot has happened recently but I’ll pull out two important milestones that is helping establish New/Mode as required infrastructure for modern campaigns.

New Media Ventures (NMV), has announced that they will support the expansion of New/Mode’s multi-channel civic engagement platform.

New Media Ventures received more than 500 applications from other civic engagement projects hoping to be supported by the influential NMV network. They are one of the most respected backers of civic tech in the world and we’re absolutely thrilled to have their support.

New/Mode’s multi-channel platform already powers millions of civic actions and New Media Venture’s support will help us grow that democratic empowerment dramatically.

Back when New/Mode was just an idea from a few campaigners, we hoped that one day we’d reach a level where platform would be validated by support form New Media Ventures. That day has arrived!

New/Mode just won “Best New Product” and “Best Overall Tool” at the Netroots New Tools showcase in Philadelphia.

Netroots is the conference where leaders in cause-based digital engagement gather every year. I went to this showcase two years ago and thought, “I hope one day New/Mode can be on this stage showing off the game changing civic tech we plan to build.” I didn’t even conceive of winning it.

Which brings me back to thanking you. From the get-go we had bold ambitions to empower communities, transform democratic institutions and play an important role in turning the tide on the growing social injustices that plague our world — from immigration, to climate change, to LBGTQ+ rights, to criminal justice reform, to digital rights and so much more.

We all have a lot of increasingly important work to do on all these issues, but the two developments above feel like important milestones for our part at New/Mode.

None of this would be possible without you — whether you’re a subscriber, a financial backer, a participant in one of our webinars, or someone who used one of our tools to take a civic action.

Thanks to your support word is getting out about New/Mode now — our unique ethos of collaboration and empathy; our increasingly sophisticated civic engagement tools, tactics and resources.

We firmly believe that civic tools must scale to meet the challenges before us and with your help we plan to be an important part of the solution.

We’re just getting started and thank you so much for helping us get to this point.
