We finally got our taxes done and planned our Giraffe hunt — so back at it with the TTR. Also, thanks to everyone who came out to the show last night! We had a great time. Rickey’s missing his locking Tremelo and Whammy bar. Ping us if you find it.

Oh Hai AI!

What’s going on?

What up? That’s Bina48 aka “Breakthrough Intelligence via Neural Architecture 48” and she’ll fucking kill you at a staring contest. Bina48 is an android that learns from the mannerisms, beliefs and even memories of Bina Rothblatt, Martine Rothblatt’s wife. She can hold a conversation with interviewers, and answer questions on social media according to “intelligent, feeling, aware” software.

Why does it matter?

First off, she could pass the Turing test, a measure of artificial intelligence that defines A.I. as something with which you could converse without realizing it’s not a human being. Second, she has the feels and knows when you do too. She’s a companion that learns from everyone she speaks to and is creating her own personality. Wyld styles man. Watch the video pronto.

Magic Leaps By Mini

What’s going on?

Besides the nice fashion jacket this dude is sporting you’ll notice some kind of smooth-lined steampunk themed burner shades. Enter Mini Cooper’s foray into AR driving. The eyewear features a built-in camera and see-through display technology on the lenses. The main functions of the eyewear are oriented to improve driving safety and navigation.

Why does it matter?

AR is mainstreaming in a hot minute. This does seem a bit more gimmicky though. Am I right? It seems short sighted, even with the blazing hot cafe racer goggle design and a strapping leather clad man — who’s apparently quite stoked about his AR vibez. But in the driverless future, I won’t need this at all. The jacket, maybe, I’ll take that. And his teeth.

Marines Got Some Balls

What’s going on?

A whole lot of war balls. Imagine thousands of these storming a beachhead during our future biological war with China. Crusing along at 20mph and probably outfitted with railguns, EMP burst lazers, agent orange and speakers blasting back-masked Skrillex covers done by Pink Martini. It’s true and will happen.

Why does it matter?

In the race to make a robot warrior to fight for our rare earth minerals, the Marines took out the body and gave us the balls. Rightly so. It’s an efficient design and it can also swim. Just think about swarms of autonomous Marine balls charging the front lines or holding the perimeter waiting to draw some unfortunate soul’s ace of spades. Hoorah!

eSports Changing Name to aSports

What’s going on?

A bunch of kids gaming away all jacked up on the a-spot, that’s wut. Adderall has “invaded” eSports. A likely coupling and will never consciously uncouple. Chris Martin be damned! The competitive gaming scene is a wyld fyre of major money and high stakes. Imagine playing Metroid in front of 20,000 people for a cool mill. I’d down some power poppers too.

Why does it matter?

The legitimization of eSports in the zeitgeist has led to some calling for more regulation of performance enhancing drugs. While not banned and as easy to get as Oxy shopping some Houston pain clinics, the jury is still out on that Addy. It’s an eSports blood doping moment sans yellow jersey and Sheryl Crow. Addiction is a concern but it’s hush as fuck — there are game$ to play!
