Banyan Tree-connecting clubs and students efficiently!:
The one stop shop for all your college club needs!
The basic idea:
When you enter college be it as a fresher or a sophomore, there is complete pandemonium and a lot of activities happening at all given times. The one thing you don’t want to do is miss out on club activities or events just because you weren’t aware or had no information about them. Clubs, while they do their best do not have a fixed medium through which they can update all college students about their endeavors and this is where our app Banyan Tree comes in!
Banyan Tree aims to solve the connectivity issues between college clubs and the students by giving both of them a platform to centrally share and receive information about all club events and activities directly on their user page.
Features:
All the relevant information about the particular club will be displayed on the club profile including a gist of what the club does, its main activities, a calendar of events, event images, registration links and information about club heads.
The web app allows you to keep track of all clubs that you are a part of currently or would like to join in the future. We have dedicated user profile pages that shows the user the Calendar and events the user has registered for or wants to keep track of. The site also shows you an image carousel of recent club events. It also shows you clubs from other colleges you might be interested in.
It gives you links for registering to the clubs on the club profiles which makes sure you don’t have to look around and search Whatsapp or Instagram and go through a hundred different messages before getting what you want.
We have also tried to implement a search feature that aims to show you more clubs you could follow other than those from your own college based on your interests(i.e, technical, non-technical , dance, AI/ML, data science, photography etc)
Future plans:
Our initial idea was to build a flutter app but we had to shift to a flask web-app due to the time constraints. So making a scalable flutter application in the future is still on the table.
Adding a chat feature that lets students and club heads chat with each other thereby increasing transparency and also promoting the ease with which inter-club events can be held across colleges.
Shifting to the more robust Firebase database.
The Tech Stack we used:
After wire-framing the app in Adobe XD, we used HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the frontend and the python framework Flask for the backend. We also used the SQLAlchemy database and Bulma CSS in some places.
