Arrest Made in Roanoke Avenue Shooting Investigation

Following a shooting Friday on Roanoke Avenue, NNPD arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
On Friday, May 17, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Newport News Police received a call in reference to a shooting inside a residence at the 3300 block of Roanoke Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female who apparently climbed on the hood of a school bus. She appeared to be suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
After a thorough investigation, NNPD arrested 33-year-old Reginald Leon Carner Jr. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Carner Jr. is charged with:
·Aggravated Malicious Wounding
·Shooting Within an Occupied Dwelling
·Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
