Auto-Pedestrian Crash Investigation

On October 25, 2021, approximately 3 p.m., Newport News police responded to an auto-pedestrian accident in the 11700 block of Jefferson Avenue. There, officers located a 30-year-old man suffering from injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing Jefferson Avenue — not in a crosswalk — when he was struck. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained on scene. Investigation remains ongoing.
