UPDATE: Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting-600 Block J Clyde Morris Blvd

Update July 5, 2022, 3:20 p.m.: The victim in this morning’s fatal shooting has been identified as 34-year-old Dominic Thompson, of Hampton.

This is still an active investigation, and there is no further information to release at this time.

On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, approximately 6:45 a.m., Newport News police responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of J Clyde Morris Blvd.

At the scene, officers found one male victim with injuries believed to be life threatening. The victim later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

This remains an ongoing investigation, and there are no further details to release at this time.
