As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that gunfire was exchanged in the residence at the address listed below between Mr. Terrance Kendale Ferebee, a 32-year-old Newport News man, and Mr. Takaree Nijinn Allen, a 20-year-old Newport New man. Both victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Allen was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Ferebee was transported to a local hospital for care where he later succumbed to his injuries. We believe this incident was the result of ongoing domestic-related issues with a third party.

“We will be holding a C.A.R.E. Walk (Community Awareness, Reconnection, & Education) today at 4:00 p.m. at 44th and Madison Avenue. Detectives and officers will be on hand to offer support. Gun violence affects all of us and must be addressed through multiple approaches and resources,” said Chief of Police Steve Drew.

The circumstances of this incident remain under investigation, however, at this time, no charges have been filed.

Homicide Investigation

On September 12, 2022 at 8:30 pm officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 44th Street where two individuals were located inside an apartment suffering gunshot wounds. One adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition. The shooting appears to be domestic related. Detectives are canvassing the area seeking possible witnesses as the investigation remains ongoing.
