Update: Homicide Investigation — North Trellis Court

Update (June 10, 12 p.m.): The victim in last evening’s homicide on North Trellis Court has been identified as Zair Grenade, a 21-year-old Newport News man. The investigation is ongoing.

On June 9 2024, at 5:31 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Trellis Court in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they located an adult male with at least one gunshot wound which appeared to be non-life-threatening and another adult male with a gunshot wound that appeared to be life-threatening. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for care. The victim with the life-threatening gunshot wound succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Detectives are canvassing the area and Forensics is on scene. There is no suspect information at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
