Newport News Police Department’s Homicide Support Group will hold its second annual Gun Violence Awareness Walk on Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. at City Center in Newport News.

The walk aims to bring awareness to gun violence and remember those who have been lost to, or otherwise impacted by, this issue. The event will include a brief program featuring remarks from several individuals, including a member of the NNPD Young Adult Police Commissioners (YAPC) program who is a gun violence survivor.

Following the program, those in attendance will walk together around the large fountain at city center to show their solidarity on this issue. Participants are urged to wear orange, the color recognized nationally for gun violence awareness.

The program will begin at the City Center gazebo at 6 p.m. Parking is available in the garage off Town Center Way.
