In reference to the homicide investigation below, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Dequane Christopher Johnson, of Newport News. There is no suspect information to release at this time. Investigation remains ongoing.

In reference to the investigation below, the victim — a 24-year-old male — has died from his injuries. Investigation remains ongoing.

Original Release, November 12, 2020:

On November 12, 2020, approximately 7:51 p.m., Newport News police responded to a shooting in the first block of Teardrop Lane.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be life-threatening.
