Social Order

Many organized systems in creation can be found that point us to almighty God. Though each have different functions, they all work together to sustain life. From the atom, to lunar orbit, water cycles, photosynthesis, and even the solar system, all have order and purpose within their system that allows life on earth to exist. The systems found in creation are very complex and diverse, and many people have searched for meaning of their existence. What is it that unites them to a common purpose to life.

The universe is amazing when we take the time to examine each system from the largest to the smallest. When we gaze up at a night sky with no polluting city lights, the stars declare glory! Or when a infant is born and it breaths it’s first breath, a miracle has been witnessed. There is unity in every diverse system when credit is given to the One who created it all. Glory to the One who made all things!

1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. — Psalm 19:1 NKJV

Unity in diversity is where we get our words universe and university, and is simply all parts within any given system standing different between each other, but work together in their correct roles with order and beauty. Like two strings played on an instrument that bring a pleasant note to the ear, or when two sisters sing a song in sequence with perfect harmony so it is when two or more diverse parts of any system are in their rightful place as they function within their different roles. Harmony and unity are always found when all parts work together as one and in their correct role.

However disorder and chaos causes any system to fail resulting to confusion and disunity. When the parts of an element do not work their correct roles it is like an out of tune guitar or a voice off key that gives an undesirable sound. Like if the base singer of a quartet decided he didn’t like the song they were singing, then chose to sing another in the middle of their performance. What confusion would come from his selfish action?

fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind. [Let] nothing [be done] through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:2–4 NKJV

Just as there needs to be order in creation for life to even exist, order within social systems are important for them to operate correctly. Great part of the systems found in the material universe is we have no control over them. Because man has an element of control over social systems they get all messed up. Because of the fall of man, and his ability to choose weather or not to function correctly in his role within any given social structure, this is why we see a system fail.

Just like satan fell because he decided his role was not enough and wanted the place of God’s role. So it is with man when we choose our own selfish ways instead of functioning in any given role correctly or attempting to overtake the role of somebody else.

Let us look at the nature of God first to give us understanding to the other social systems that we operate in here on earth.

Nature of God Every good social system that exists stems from the nature of God Himself and the relationship within the Godhead. God did not have to create social order because that is His very essence. The Son submits to the Father, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son.

“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. John 15:26 NKJV

Numbers one through three can represent three parts of society: 1 = alone 2 = intimacy 3 = community

Within the Godhead we have all three. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three, but One. There is an intimacy in relationship between the Father and the Son, and there is community with all three. This is truly a mystery.

So what the social structures should look like here on earth should reflect the very Character of almighty God. The example for the relationships we have within family, government, work, and the church body is a reflection of the very essence of God’s character.

Marriage (Ephesians 5:22–33) (Ephesians 6:1–4) What marriage should look like is explained in Eph 5:22–33. As the Son submits to the Father, so should the wife submit to her husband. And just as Christ gave himself for the church so should the husband give up his life for his wife. And just as Christ loves and cherishes the church, so should the husband love and cherish his wife as his own flesh.

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” — Ephesians 5:31 NKJV

When a man and woman become one they have become a new family unit. Separate from their parents they are a new social system.

And then just as the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, so do children and should be in submission to their parents as written in Eph 6:1–4.

Marriage Corruption When this system is changed and one chooses to take the role of another, this only causes problems. When the wife takes over control either unwillingly because the lazy husband is not performing his role, or because the wife feels threaten and is acting in fear or pride, this creates confusion, chaos, and disunity.

Or when children because of selfish desires begin to lead the family by manipulation or whining, again the family unit has become confused and the correct order of roles have been turned upside down from how God intended it to be.

Or when the man or women choose to not depart from their mother and father either financially, emotionally, or in authority this also causes the new family unit to not work correctly and malfunctions due to the correct roles not being established.

There is a correct social order of roles that work beautifully because they are the very nature of God, but when people choose to do what is right in their own eyes through self-seeking and envy, disunity and confusion sets in.

For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. James 3:16 NKJV

Now when this system is corrupted with perversions the family unit will not only be thrown into chaos, but can surely fail completely. Marriage is to be between one man and one woman. When one adds in another and commits adultery the family unit has been violated, and the very nature of God is no longer being represented in a marriage correctly.

It is no longer just a dysfunctional family unit, it has become a perversion of what God intended marriage should look like, and it brings an offense to the very reflection of God’s nature.

Sin is not sin just because God set up a list of do’s and don’ts. Sin is sin simply because it is contrary to the very nature of our Holy God.

Counterfeit Marriage Now a dysfunctional system is one thing and we are all growing through grace and learning how to be better husbands and wives and parents. Everyone has some sort of dysfunction in there marriage. And when sin breaks the trust within a family unit this can completely destroy the social system and is very sad. But it is still considered a marriage in God’s eyes, whether it ended or not. Even though His intent was they stayed together for a life-time, it was still looked at as a marriage between a man and a woman.

However there is a counterfeit marriage in the forefront of our culture that is pleading for acceptance. This is the marriage between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, which is not a marriage union at all, and truncates the purity of unity in diversity as a reflection of God’s nature.

So not only can you expect roles to be confused as one tries to be the manly one because nature tells us their should be diversity, but there also will be chaos and a lack of stability for the relationship. Why? Because this was never God’s intent. Homosexuality is a sin not because God made a list of rules for us to go by, but because it goes against the very purity of God’s design for marriage.

Part two of this article will address further regarding the problems with the counterfeit marriage that homosexuals are demanding acceptance for. Man may give acceptance, but God does not change His stance on the issue. I plan on addressing the arguments of the same-sex “marriage” controversy from a Biblical standpoint.

If you wish to add a question or want me to respond to some aspect of this controversy, please comment.
