Virgin Radio UK has landed!

The wait is over, the new Virgin Radio UK app has now been released!
Here at Wireless, we’ve been working continuously to bring you the new Virgin Radio UK app. We’ve spent the last quarter of 2020 and early 2021 to design and develop a brand new app, supporting 4 radio stations that are packed with new features and a new look and feel.
What’s changed?
A new way of listening
In the old Virgin Radio app, catch-up content was only available in 30 minute chunks. This meant when you wanted to listen to your show you had to continuously switch sections of your content. We’ve now enhanced the experience of listening to your catch-up content, once you have signed into the app you’ll have full access to 7 days worth of content without the hassle of switching every 30 minutes.
Below is what the catch-up content will look like on the fullscreen player.
New fonts, new styles, and new layouts
To match the Virgin theme we have incorporated a new font set and a red/white theme that is visible through the app on various buttons, views, and text.
The new Virgin Radio UK app uses a new design and layout of the homepage and our fullscreen player. It now features a large presenter image that spans the entire page, with a subtle gradient on top, which you can see in the below images.
Big red sign-in button
As well as the newly designed homepage and fullscreen player, we now have a new sign-in and sign-out button on the settings page, that follows the same theme.
Popup’s
Some of our new catch-up content is accessible to you if you are signed into the app, but rather than having to rummage the app to find the sign-in page we’ve made this clean-looking popup that will popup when it requires you to log in!
Now Playing / Recently played
One of the biggest features we have refreshed in the Virgin Radio UK app is Now Playing / Recently Played. If you have opened the app and were wondering what the radio station was playing before, you can now see this preview in the fullscreen player!
Taping on this preview will bring you to a brand-new screen. It shows a list of recently played songs along with the artist. If a song is currently playing on air, it will be labeled as seen below. This is great for users that are unsure of what song was just played and don’t know the title or artist.
