We’re delighted to announce our major new design, representing the biggest change to NewsNow in our 25+ year history.

The new design will be released gradually to users over the coming weeks. Whether you’ve been given access to it yet or not, read on to learn more about the many new features it brings and how we believe they will enhance the experience you have come to appreciate over the years.

The brand new NewsNow design, 2023

Why we’ve redesigned NewsNow

Founded in 1997 to democratise the market for news, NewsNow has since become a global top 50 news website with millions of loyal users who discover news from thousands of sources.

We’re driven by the need to help make news serve people better, because a healthy society needs a healthy news diet. In this era of fake news, filter bubbles and polarisation, we believe this is more important than ever.

Our new design modernises the look of the platform, to make it more accessible to more people, and includes many new features that we believe will help you navigate, choose and understand the news better.

What’s new?

We all have different preferences when it comes to how we engage with the news. While some of us prefer to scan the headlines, others enjoy reading news with imagery, which can provide vital context at a glance. Taking this into consideration, we have redesigned NewsNow to display imagery, just when you want it.

Across many of our topics — such as Entertainment, Sport and the Climate Crisis — imagery can enrich the story. We hope that this new feature will appeal to existing and new users, providing a customisable experience to suit the needs of our diverse audience.

To turn imagery on or off, simply tap on the controls at the top of every page. Your preference will then apply to any future pages you visit.

All Sources — News from all the angles

NewsNow exists to help you read the news from all the angles, so you can make sure you’re not misinformed by the biases of individual publications. So we’ve now made it much easier to view all articles on the same story.

Just tap on the orange All Sources icon to browse all the available alternative sources for a story.

ⓘ icon — Giving you more context and control

We believe it’s important not just to read the news, but to make informed choices about what to read, and when you do read an article to understand who wrote it.

By opening our new article info panel — just click the ⓘ icon — you can quickly access an estimated reading time for the article, ways to share the article, and the ability to hide or highlight articles from its publisher.

Coming soon, our info panel will begin to include background information on major publications featured on the site. We hope that knowing how news publishers are funded and governed will allow you to better read between the lines of the articles they publish.

More topics (and more, and more)

Reading all the latest news on single topic isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so we’ve increased the number of related topics and their relevance to help you discover more news on subjects you might be interested in. On any topic page, just scroll down to view them.

Discover more news on relevant subjects.

Don’t forget, by signing in you can also follow any topics of interest on your personalised homepage by tapping on the star button next to the topic name, anywhere you see it on the site.

What’s next?

The new design is the first of many improvements to come and if you’d like to be kept up to date with these and other developments at NewsNow, create an account for free and tick the option to receive updates.

Otherwise, be on the lookout for our new design. We hope you’re excited as we are for the launch of the biggest change to NewsNow in our 25-year history.
