Space Startup Spotlight: Space Impulse

In the last decade, the cost of space launch continues to drop thanks to increasing competition among launch providers and better technology. However, what hasn’t changed as much is the complicated dance of activities that need to happen on the payload side. That’s where Space Impulse comes in.

What is Space Impulse?

Space Impulse is a global B2B marketplace platform dedicated primarily to the space industry. By focusing specifically on the needs and processes of the space industry, supply chain integration can be streamlined, the time it takes to put payload into orbit can be accelerated, and costs can be lowered. Through this mission, the company will help to clear and widen the pathway linking Earth and space, and empower a thriving and expanding space industry ecosystem.

Who is Behind this Startup?

Space Impulse was founded by two individuals, Rabi Boundi and Loukas Spiliotopoulos.

Rabi is a Spanish entrepreneur, fluent in five languages, MSc in Computer Engineering, ISU and Draper University alumnus. The Space Impulse B2B marketplace idea was conceived while Rabi was leading the successful software applications company he founded in 2010, called Movin’App, which grew to more than 35 million downloads in 7 years.

Loukas is a successful British-Greek fund manager, MSc CEMS in Management from the London School of Economics and ISU alumnus. He has held leadership roles in Princelet Partners and Barclays Capital and has 20 consummated transactions worth over €14bn, including the sale of a GEO satellite.

What’s Next for Space Impulse?

The last few months have been very auspicious for Space Impulse. They raised substantial funds for their development team, got selected for the Space Academy in Bremen, have expanded their operations and management team, and finally, concluded their platform’s tests to offer the space community the most amazing collaboration experience. In just a few weeks, they have already facilitated their first international transactions.

Now they have come to the incredibly important step when their first users come on board. They welcome all verticals and segments of the space industry. Downstream, upstream, legal, launch, components, software, insurance, testing, etc. Everyone can buy and sell their products and services. It’s free to join and they don’t charge any transaction fees. In the future, they plan to offer premium services as well.

A new platform can’t have thousands of users later without a select visionary few jumping in at the beginning, so active users who join at this early stage will earn a display badge that no later phase members will ever be able to earn: the Founding Member badge. These members will get special benefits in the future.

What To Expect

Sign up today! You will be joining the platform in its basic, foundational form. Some of the functions naturally won’t have much use until many other users come on board, but they would like your feedback and you can expect the Space Impulse team to be very responsive to your comments and questions (feedback (at) spaceimpulse.com).

Rabi, Loukas, and the Space Impulse team are looking forward to having you onboard!
