Since starting to recruit for Her Story, I’ve been overwhelmed by women’s willingness to support other women. But, scanning the Valley, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Women-to-women empowerment is on trend, and for good reason.

Take a look at the VC-space, a traditionally male-dominated world. A few weeks back, key female investors such as Jess Lee, Aileen Lee and Kirsten Green stepped up to take a swing at the existing gender norm by launching Female Founders Office Hours, an opportunity for female VCs to advise aspiring female entrepreneurs.

Or, we learn from organizations like theBoardlist, a company that has heavily influenced companies to select female board members. And, perhaps the best example, SheEO (based out of Canada), an organization designed for women to directly invest in female-led ventures.

It’s clear that the “boys club” mentality has gone stale. Women are making dramatic swings at this traditional power structure by directly lifting each other up. At New Story, we are thrilled to be a part of this movement. Her Story is our first step in that direction!
