People mad at Taylor Swift again for dumbest possible reason
There’s a great commercial on in Canada right now that perfectly encapsulates the paradox of money and celebrity.
The bank ad starts with a man sitting at a restaurant waiting for a date, looking worried about the small amount of money he has to spend on the dinner.
He looks out the window to another, fancier restaurant where two women are enjoying a meal seemingly without a care in the world.
Then one of those women looks to a third restaurant, where a group of wealthy businesspeople seems to be having an even better meal and more fun.
The progression continues:
- a woman in an OK car sees a guy in a beautiful old convertible
- that guy arrives home to see a woman at a party in a penthouse apartment above him
- she sees a woman in a better building making an important phone call
- That woman looks to the sky to see a plane coming in for a landing
- A man in first class on that plane looks out his window to see a celebrity singer being rushed to a helicopter as a throng of fans moves toward her
The ad ends with the celebrity looking longingly out of her limousine window at the first man … who is now holding hands with his date and enjoying a quiet, fun, private dinner together.
The tagline is: “You’re richer than you think.”
