Newton is Canada’s first commission-free cryptocurrency trading platform. We’re on a mission to make our financial system more open and democratic.

We announced yesterday that we are now accepting invite requests for our upcoming beta. The response has been amazing, and it has invariably lead some to question how long they might have to wait.

In response, we’re rolling out a program that does two things: 1) Lets you skip to the front of the line, and 2) advances Canadian civil liberties.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up for the Newton beta.
  2. Make a donation of at least $5 to the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
  3. Send the receipt to hello@newton.co.

We’ll prioritize anyone who donated in our first rounds of beta invitations.

Why the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA)?

The CCLA has been a strong advocate for important topics ranging from internet privacy and speech, freedom of expression, LGBTQ rights, and maintaining balance in national security legislation.

Cryptocurrency touches on a number of important fundamental rights: internet freedom, the right to privacy, and freedom of expression, among others.

It seemed like a natural fit — after all, why should the EFF get all the glory? ;-)
