Interesting article. I definitely share the skepticism towards the current obsession with growth at all costs. This almost seems like more a cultural issue than really a business issue. I sincerely believe that growth focused on excellence and a healthy company culture can still be non-linear growth. But that shouldn’t be the primary focus.

That said, I don’t think this is really — it is only exaggerated. This isn’t really different than the gilded age obsession with monopolies and personal fortunes. We humans have a limited ability to make the fine-grained distinctions between quality and quantity. We all fall into that trap every day.

Anyway, love the thought provoking arguments!
