As usual, when any report comes out about New York City, the focus is on Manhattan and the Tourist and Billionaire Industry. Of course, that demographic of any global city goes into hiding when anything happens. But when there is money being made, the gold rush opportunity, everyone with a penny to invest, starts streaming in to make a buck. That’s the same everywhere in the world. All the big cities have closed up shop during the pandemic, so what’s so different about Manhattan closing shop for the pandemic?
On the other hand, every other NYC borough has experienced a surge, yes SURGE!, in traffic and people, and their needs for goods, stores, and ENDLESS FedEX, UPS, DHL, XYC, delivery vehicles clogging the streets. Why don’t you report on those? Oh, because it’s not sexy reporting on the actual New Yorkers, steadfastly sticking it out, building communities, and strengthening businesses. No, it always has to be about the fleeting transient wannabes quasi Non-New Yorkers, the wealth that even you lament upon that is eluding your narrative.
Well, New Yorkers have always said… if you want to move to the greener hills of your dream land, then just move.
