Where nature’s spectacle unfolds every year in early April
By the earth’s magical internal clock, around April 15th, a fleeting phenomenon far beyond one’s imagination displays itself to New Yorkers and visitors alike.
For a few days only, weather conditions permitting, the Weeping Cherries and Magnolia blossoms are in full display at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.
Enter at the Garden’s gates on Eastern Parkway, and the crowds already waiting to get in will give you an inkling of what’s inside.
The magical display of the year’s ‘first season’
Naturally, as a local, I recoil at seeing the crowds, but I’ve made it out this early at 9 am in the morning on a Wednesday, dodging work, so I might as well succumb to the crowds of people.
I follow the early morning nature revelers, school groups, nannies with strollers outfitted with umbrellas and blankets, and various out-of-town travelers’ groups having heard about this event somehow.
Inside the Garden, the sprawling green areas provide plenty of space to find a quiet nook. But…
