Discussing the impact of AI on news and media.

On Wednesday May 9th 180 people from business and media attended The Great AI Debate.

The Panelists

We brought together a diverse including a legal, AI, media and production experts to dispel the myths, understand the law and legal obligations, the scale of which AI is being used in media production and how we as consumers can be aware of what’s produced by AI.

Real challengers were exposed around transparency of content production, trust in news sources.

There’s a big difference in movies or TV shows utilising AI vs news media using AI to write stories or reporting on important issues.

Key considerations include:

  • Should we always be told that we are interacting with the technology?
  • What fundamental principles should apply to the use of the technology?
  • Do we need to make changes to the law now to prepare for consequences done to and by true AI?

The Live Stream

The screen orientation changes at the start of the discussion, around 30 minutes in.
