The iPhone brought the first wave of BYOD (bring your own device) for enterprises back around 2009. Employees loved their iPhones and could not think about spending a workday away from them. They also had preferences for their laptops and then tablets. A new industry emerged from this trend called Mobile Device Management and has since been incorporated into the larger Unified Endpoint Management space.

We are now in the next wave of BYO and it is with Data. BYOD2. People want to own and manage their personal data and not hand it over to every tech platform, employer, or public entity. By using a decentralized domain naming system (dDNS), we can rapidly authenticate into Web3 dApps that are purpose-built for the BYOD2 world. dApps like a Human Resources resume verification system where your school and employment are validated to an immutable ledger. Or your prior certifications while on different jobs. Imagine the productivity enhancements when you don’t have to take the same “awareness” training every time you change jobs. Where you can pick up from a competency level that you attained rather than starting at level 1.0 along with the fresh, college graduates.

For NexBloc, the new wave of data ownership and control is in our DNA. It is why we started NexBloc in the first place. To support our enterprise MDM solution for education and training. We have spent the last year working on systems that allow for rapid, client-directed deployment. If you are interested in your own dTLD, you can reach out here.

BYOD2 is just one example of how enterprises and other entities will start to interact with purpose-built dApps. In future posts, we will explore other ways enterprises are incorporating dDNS such as how Supply Chain and Corporate Legal teams use data vaults.
