Report: Colts Players Not Thrilled With First Round Pick of Phillip Dorsett
There wasn’t an overwhelmingly shocking pick during the First Round of the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday night, but there were a couple mild surprises, including the Colts grabbing Miami (FL) receiver Phillip Dorsett at No. 29 overall. With T.Y. Hilton, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief, Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen on the roster, it doesn’t appear they need another pass-catching option. However, Dorsett now gives them one of the best receiving corps in the league and immediately adds yet another dimension to an already-explosive Indy offense.
If post-draft whispers are accurate, current Colts players are leaning toward the former opinion, with many wondering why they spent a high pick on Dorsett when they have numerous other needs, including defensive back.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, some players aren’t happy with the team’s draft strategy and would prefer to have seen them add Alabama safety Landon Collins. It’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not those rumors are accurate, but it’s definitely not the most welcoming tone for a rookie wideout looking to make an immediate impact.
