The fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao has a title belt that fits the grandiosity of the match itself.

WBC presdient Mauricio Sulaiman did an interview with USA Today where he detailed how the decked-out belt came into being.

As far as details go, the belt features four gold coins — one of Jose Sulaiman (the WBC’s president from 1975–2014), one of Muhammad Ali, one of Manny Pacquiao and one of Floyd Mayweather. The belt itself is crafted out of the same leather that is used in Ferrari seats. The outer ring of the belt’s centerpiece contains the 165 flags of the countries that are associated with WBC as well.

That materials used for the belt are astounding. The belt is made up of 3,017 emeralds and 800 grams of gold. It took 20 artisans six weeks to complete the project.

Sulaiman declined to put an estimated value on the belt when it was unveiled in Las Vegas this week.

“For security reasons, we agreed with the manufacturing company not to disclose the amount’’ paid to make the belt, he said. “But the value is priceless.”

According to Josh Peter of USA Today, typical championship belts are generally worth between $3,000 and $10,000. However, like everything else surrounding the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, this belt is anything but typical.
