None of us is as smart as all of us

At the Porsche Digital Lab, we’re working on technological innovations that have the potential to transform every aspect of the world as we know it — from AI and neural nets to Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT). We experiment with technologies, methods and processes off the beaten track to find new ways to accelerate creativity and innovation. Our goal is to develop new concepts, create prototypes and explore how technologies can make our lives easier. We’re basically trying to put technological innovations into practical solutions with speed and flexibility.

In the end, we are aiming to become the biggest digital automotive community in Berlin.

To do so, we work together with the brightest minds from all around the globe — from analysts and researchers to developers and innovative startups. Because considering problems from another angle and thinking out of the box requires a diverse group of people working together, combining different experiences, backgrounds and points of view. We call it: #NextLevelGermanEngineering.

We all belong to one big network

Collaboration is a massive thing in innovation. That is why we decided to join forces with our Berlin-based siblings from the Audi Denkwerkstatt, VW Digital Lab, Ideation Hub, FS AG, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Skoda Auto DigiLab from Praha and many more digital units. We come together to talk about questions and problems such as regarding artificial intelligence (AI) and user-experience design, challenges in building prototypes or successful innovative solutions or ask ourselves how the future work, the innovation lab and collaboration should look like. Because we are facing the same challenges, but are also united by the same innovative spirit. We all follow a similar mission. And we all belong to one big network, the Volkswagen Group. An overview of all labs in the Volkswagen Group can be found here.

This is the first time that there is a variety of brands, who are united under the umbrella of the Volkswagen Group, represented in one city, Berlin. We are convinced that we — the people of our Berlin-based labs — should use this power.

Joint forces: Digital Roundtable brings the labs, ideas and thoughts together in a casual atmosphere

That is why we have the Digital Roundtable, a casual networking event where we bring the labs of the VW AG-network together, exchange ideas, experiences and thoughts about our work in a very informal surrounding. Following our intention to build a network of digital units inside the Volkswagen Group, we get together in different locations with changing hosts and topics every quarter — to open our knowledge silos, share best practices, discuss what drives us and encourage the innovative power of each of us by collaborating. In the end, we are aiming to become the biggest digital automotive community in Berlin.

Because we are facing the same challenges, but are also united by the same innovative spirit. We all follow a similar mission. And we all belong to one big network, the Volkswagen Group.

To me, the mix of in-depth tech- and project-based exchange with an open and casual atmosphere, is what makes the Digital Roundtables unique. It’s not simply about networking, it’s about collaborating and building a strong connection.

We kicked off 2018 with the 5th Digital Roundtable here at the Porsche Digital Lab and MHP Lab on “Collaboration between the labs”. As the host of this event and in my position as an agile coach, it was a special pleasure for me to see all our network members come together to discuss how we can leverage the potential of the labs and be stronger together. In a mini-barcamp we elaborated a topic for a potential joint project amongst the labs: Charging!

Stay posted for updates about the Digital Roundtables — the next one will be at the VW Digital Lab here in Berlin. I’m looking forward to seeing you all again!
