Bain and Co, a global management consultant company, and Twitter teamed up recently to go over best practices on how to have a successful product launch. Bain and Co.’s product launched were up around 27% in 2018 with clients experiencing up to two times revenue growth. The practices include listening to consumers before launch, utilizing multiple platforms to spread the word, creating a valuable message, as well as preparing to make adjustments on the fly. The company stresses that the product launch is a make or break for the brand so it is important to properly set up the launch.

This past year, my friends and I launched our clothing brand, One Harbor, and I can definitely relate to this. We have been talking about launching the brand for a while and we have been crafting it on and off for a year and a half. We didn’t really know what we were doing, but wanted to launch anyway because we felt like we’ve been talking about it for too long. It was tough to go on social media and listen to people because there is not really a fashion scene in the area we are trying to cater to but we wanted to be the first. Our insight was good, but we should have personally asked more people if they were feeling what we were trying to do.

People like our message but we really did not convey it through our products or social media. Our initial launch were just simple branded tees but we learned to have more thought and concept behind it so more people can relate.
