I am honored to announce that Next Tech has been named a finalist for the 2020 EdTech Awards “Cool Tool” category for coding, computer science, and engineering solutions! This US-based program is the largest recognition program in all of education technology, featuring the biggest names in edtech — and those who soon will be. The program was established in 2010 to recognize, acknowledge, and celebrate the most exceptional innovators, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology.

The EdTech Awards recognize companies in and around education for outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology to enrich the lives of learners everywhere. Featuring edtech’s best and brightest, the annual program shines a spotlight on cool tools, inspiring leaders and innovative trendsetters across the K-12, Higher Education, and Skills and Workforce sectors. This year’s award recipients were narrowed from a much larger field and judged based on various criteria, including pedagogical workability, efficacy and results, support, clarity, value and potential.

At Next Tech, we are proud to work with some of the largest education companies in the world to provide access to hands-on learning opportunities for students mastering tech skills. Our platform powers interactive labs for computer programming, web development, data science, and other in-demand skills, making it easy for students to learn-by-doing. Recognition from such a prestigious award shows our commitment to being the number one platform in the world for breaking down the learning barriers students around the world face every day.

While it is possible the COVID-19 pandemic may result in more accessible and affordable education for many students, it has still presented many challenges for students and the companies that support them. At Next Tech, we have seen more companies than ever before coming to us in search of hands-on learning experiences for their students. We hope this is indicative of a growing industry-wide awareness that online education is here to stay, and that to make it work, students need to easily apply what they are learning.

Victor Rivero, who as Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest oversees the EdTech Awards program, had this to say regarding this industry shift:

“This year has been different, to say the least. However, despite formidable challenges brought about by world events — including locked-down cities, standstill travel, and closed offices, businesses and schools — we endure.

“While The EdTech Awards salutes all those on the front lines of help, with an extraordinary shift to online learning, really acknowledging the innovators, leaders, and trendsetters — particularly in our field — is more important than ever.”

He continued to commemorate the hard work of edtech individuals and companies around the world:

“To those who stepped up and continue to do so — empathic educators, persistent parents, laudable leaders moving learning forward, especially in these times — we salute you. Your tireless efforts awaken others to the resoluteness and goodness of the human spirit.

“To those moving students forward across K-12, higher education, and workforce learning — in these unprecedented times we hope this recognition brings you some much-deserved joy and light to help see you through. Thank you!”

We look forward to continuing our journey in enabling students to succeed alongside the many other companies in this space pushing into the future of education technology. Today, we are honored to have received recognition from this industry-leading program as a 2020 EdTech Awards finalist.
