Zanco T1, a Thumb-Sized Handset is the World’s Smallest Phone
While most mobile phone manufacturers are competing in making thinner, yet larger and wider handsets, a UK based phone firm, Zanco is taking a different direction. Zanco Tiny T1 is the world’s smallest fully functioning mobile phone ever.
A $50 handset measures 1.9 x 0.8 x 0.5 inches and weighs only 13 grams. Compared to a coin and a thumb, the phone is lighter and smaller respectively.
Because it is not a Smartphone, Zanco T1 can only make calls and send text messages.
Zanco T1 has a half inch of 64 x 32 (12.5 mm OLED) screen resolution display. It also comes with a 200 mAh battery that gives you up to three days of power service or three hours (180 minutes) of talk time.
Zanco T1 is compatible with nano-SIM cards and operates on a 2G network. The mobile phone comes with 32GB RAM and has a capacity of up to 300 phone numbers and 50 text messages.
In cases of emergency, say maybe your giant tablet or Smartphone dies or gets lost, Zanco T1 is the ideal backup.
Everything on Zanco is mini, mini microphone, mini USB Port, mini keyboard mini screen display and many others.
“We are proud to introduce the world’s smallest mobile phone. It is so tiny; you won’t believe it is real! It is the perfect gift for the gadget lovers and fits in any bag or pocket no matter how small,” Zanco designers said on the phone’s Kickstarter page.
Shazad Talib is the brain behind Zanco Tiny T1; he says he came up with the idea back in 2004. Since then, a group of engineers has been on the ground working on it.
Despite the phone’s prison row in the country, Talib says he does not intend the prisoners to use or have access to the gadget.
However, those hoping to check Facebook status or send tweet messages are unlucky since Zanco merely is a text and call enabled phone.
