In the second edition of the Artist Spotlight from the NFT Malayali Community, we are equally hyped and privileged to present Hari Menon. He is one of India’s finest travel photographers, an ardent admirer of art, and an honest soul.! With an eye for painting festivals and joy in light, Hari Menon has been crafting wonders through his journeys.

A journey with Hari Menon as he explores NFT through NFT Malayali.

Hailing from a small village in Kerala, India, Hari Menon is known to many as one of the best travel photographers in the country. The reason for his continuous presence in the TOP 100 photographers on the web for 3 years is thus self-explanatory. But most may not be aware of the fact that Hari Menon used to be a 2D artist with an affinity for pencil sketches. As he chose his calling to the photography side, he explains to us “ What I used to do with pencils & colors back then, I do with my camera now, I paint in the light “.

Having a remarkably shining experience in the field which counts for more than a decade, his photographs have appeared in travel magazines such as Lonely Planet, Incredible India, Jade, and in coffee table books like India for A Billion Reasons. His frames have often uplifted glimpses of unseen India and thus resulted in collaborative projects with various tourism departments across the country.

The Happy Photography

When asked what kind of photography does he prefer or pursue, the six-footer just smiles and replies “ I am a happy photographer — and my aim is to capture as many happy pictures as possible “. Spending years traveling across India, witnessing various cultures, and bearing testimony to the proverbial unity in diversity, Hari’s list of furious clicks range from Theyyams of Malabar to ‘Jallikattu’ in Madurai to ‘Lath Mar’ in Barsana to tranquil mist-laden valleys of Munnar. His ardent admiration for art and literature is evident in the captions that adorn his visual poems. Series such as The Invisibles, Book of Dreams, Written in Light is a few instances of the same.

Art flourishes when there is good collaboration. This opportunity is exactly what Melvin Thambi seized. The first collaborative project between these two minds has been converted into a one-of-a-kind NFT.

This opens up possibilities for collaboration between different skills to bring out the best of both worlds. After all, being part of a community in itself means collaborating.
