As you already know, we bring you recaps from big events in the form of $ISME Updates — and this is a history-doesn’t-repeat-it-rhymes kind of edition!
For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, you’ll recall that the previous NFT.NYC had been pivotal for NFT3 in terms of spreading awareness, and we had even been able to get nft3.com on a billboard at Times Square.🤯
Well, this year, NFT3’s presence in New York was even bigger. Welcome to $ISME Update #4: NFT.NYC 2022.🏙
We have been working on building the MetaID, which in simple words means that we’re fighting for YOU owning your online identity in the emerging Metaverse (instead of, say, Meta owning it.🤦♂️)
The strongest emergent trend the entire week at NFT.NYC this year has been that the Metaverse thesis is well and alive regardless of the market’s conditions. Not only this, but the depth of thought being given to the Open Metaverse now has made it abundantly clear to many that a unified, decentralized identity layer is absolutely essential — without this, the metaverse is a mirage at best.
We have been working on this for a while now, and support from our Lead Investors Animoca Brands had also been massive validation of our thesis, but nevertheless it’s amazing to see the web3 community realise the importance of a sovereign, decentralised identity layer as the universal underpinning of the future online experience.
We’re on the right track, and people are catching on to the need for MetaID.

The future of the internet revolves around the users. This is the entire thesis of web3. Our central conviction is that beyond privacy and security, ease of use and the very orientation of web3 protocols needs to be around YOU, the user.
NFT3 Founder and Lead Initiator Dylan Dewdney spoke on building out the foundational layer for Metaversal Identity — MetaID, on a panel titled “On-Chain Identity with NFTs: Provocations for a Better Internet”.
The panel was very well received, and the feedback only strengthens our convictions while we build out the MVP and spread the MetaID message everywhere.
