NFTs Take ART Basel Miami by Storm 🎨

Art Basel is a leading art organization that brings collectors, artists, and galleries across the globe together. As usual, this year’s Miami event was held in Miami Beach, attracting some of the most popular celebrities, artists, and art collectors. Here are some juicy stories that came out of the week-long event:

Firstly, the NFTYLabs team had a great time at a couple of ART Basel Miami events. We also announced our innovative IRL ticket gating product at one of these events.

Next, top art auction house Christie’s partnered with NFT NOW to host a premium sensory art showcase called “The Gateway.”

Furthermore, during the Art Basel event in Miami Beach, Roddenberry Entertainment unveiled an NFT coded in the DNA of a living organism, the world’s first-of-its-kind living NFT. Interestingly, this Eco-NFT, dubbed “El Primero,” can replicate and produce billions of copies while the bacteria is still alive.

Also, Pace Verso sold Block Universe NFT, a work created by Dutch artists Lonneke Gordijn, Ralph Nauta, and Dan Dablio, for $550,000. Justdiggit, an organization that tackles global warming by re-greening Africa, will get 10% of the sales as a donation. The buyer also made a $50,000 donation to the cause.

Similarly, The Cube Art Fair, which exhibited multiple NFT art pieces from various artists, donated $200,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Also, at Art Basel in Miami Beach, Aorist hosted an exhibition titled “Crossroads,” which featured the work of many notable artists. The highest-sold NFT piece in the show was Anadol’s Machine Hallucinations: Coral Dreams, which sold for $850,000. Baker Cahill’s Mushroom Cloud and Andres Reisinger’s The Smell of Pink, both by Baker Cahill, were also auctioned for $100,000.

The Open Earth Foundation also held an OceanDrop holographic NFT sale, and the money raised from the sales will fund the OpenOcean project. In addition, Tezos organized an NFT exhibition titled “Humans + Machines: NFTs and the Ever-Evolving World of Art.” allowing the audience to produce and mint their own NFTs.

Lastly, “RAREWORLD: An NFT Takeover” was launched by SuperRare, an NFT marketplace, and SuperWorld, a virtual world in Augmented Reality. This exhibition featured a 3D sculpture using SuperWorld Augmented Reality Technology.

Yielding To The Buzzy NFT Call ​​🐝

Jimmy Wales, the legendary inventor of Wikipedia, is auctioning off the computer he used to create the website 20 years ago and the first edit he made on the platform. He will use part of the sales proceeds to fund an ad-free social network. Also,, a cryptocurrency financial services firm, launched its NFT marketplace allowing users to have easy NFT transactions from their wallet. Likewise, Defiance, a crypto-based asset management firm, plans to launch the first-ever NFT Exchange Trade Fund.

Adidas also released a fantastic video announcement of their partnership with@BoredApeYC, @gmoneyNFT, and @punkscomic.

Finally, Niels Juul, the producer of the popular film “The Irishman,” established NFT Studios, a new production business that plans to release six NFT-funded movies per year.

Market Round-Up 🚀

As usual, Axie Infinity occupies the top spot in the top 5 NFT collections list with a total sales volume of $128.58 million, followed by a new entrant, RTFKT — ClonX Mintvia for $117.88 million, The Sandbox, and Wizards & Dragons Garr for $60.67 million and $37.49 million, respectively. Last on the list is Bored Ape Yacht Club, which had a $34.77 million sales volume.

OpenSea maintains its longstanding reign at the top with $603.55 million in sales. Axie Infinity and Magic Eden came in second and third, respectively, with $128.58 million and $37.96 million in sales volume. CryptoPunks and AtomicMarket are the last two on the top 5 marketplace ranking list, with sales of $29.92 million and $12.81 million, respectively.

As the Metaverse concept gains more recognition, people have more reasons to buy digital lands from Decentraland. As a result, the first two top NFT sales are from Decentraland. We have BookLocal — Hotel Booking as the first and Coliseum as the second sold for $1.08million, $756,000 each. The last three are from the CryptoPunks collection. They include CryptoPunk #8295 sold for $715.3k, CryptoPunk #3322 sold for $684.29k and finally, CryptoPunk #2006 sold for $611.25k.

On the investment front, Metamundo secured a $2.7million round from investors led by Animoca Brands to launch the first-of-its-kind 3D NFT marketplace. Maven 11 Capital, a Crypto Investment firm, also raised $120million funds to support Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Web 3 applications, open-source protocols, and more disruptive technologies. Additionally, Binance Smart Chain partnered with Animoca Brands to launch a $200million investment program that supports GameFi startups.

Furthermore, Metagods raised a $3million funding round to support its goal of building a play-to-earn 8-bit action RPG game.

Finally, we have 1inch Network, a decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator that secured $175million in its Series B round. The new funds will enable the platform to integrate more traditional finance services into Decentralized finance (DeFi).
