The Coach Merry Go Round

The Vegas Golden Knights have fired their coach Gerard Gallant and hired Peter Deboer. Mike Kelly who was the assistant coach of the Knights was also fired.

This move doesn’t make any sense, I think this team loves their head coach and this move will not bode well for the Knights.

Yes the Golden Knights aren’t as dominate as they were last year or the year before, but it’s hard to keep up with amazing stats and win when the west is so competitive. A team usually struggles throughout the season and the Golden Knights are no exception to that. If the GM Kelly McCrimmon thinks this change will make his team better I think he might be in for a shock. Loyalty isn’t just bought and sold for a price, it takes hard work for a coach to get respect from his players and Gerard had this with the Golden Knights.

Peter Deboer now has the difficult job to motivate this team in a tough western division to make the playoffs and win in the playoffs.

Gallant’s record with the Golden Knights speaks for itself, 213–118–75 for an expansion team that’s amazing. He also won coach of the year in 2017–18 which I guess for the Management group of the Knights isn’t good enough.

It seems that because the St. Louis Blues fired their coach and won the Stanley Cup every team in the NHL thinks that this is how you win. This shake up will either motivate the players to play better or it won’t. They are at the end of the day professionals and will do their best.

Only time will tell if it will be enough to make the playoffs and make an impact in the playoffs.

The merry go round continues.
