Well I know I do, so the purpose of Blockchain Soundbites is to pick out a few interesting quotes from leaders in the blockchain space each month and present them in an easily digestible format.

Paul Brody

• Paul Brody is a trailblazer for his work in bringing enterprises to the public ethereum main net through EY’s suite of blockchain business applications, audit tools and security systems.
• In conversation with John Wolpert at the Ethereal NY conference, Paul explained his vision for blockchain through the lens of a Big 4 professional services firm.
• He has built a team of 200 blockchain developers who are developing applications that are laying the foundations for CFOs, CEOs and General Counsel of their large, very conservative clients to be okay with doing business transactions on the ethereum public blockchain.

• With Facebook’s announcement of their new cryptocurrency Libra this week, Biser Dimitrov, author of the Enterprise Blockchain Newsletter, summarised the whitepaper nicely with his 9 major takeaways.

Charles Hoskinson

• There was a great panel discussion from the last AI & Blockchain Summit in Malta on the polarising topic of Permissioned vs Permissionless Blockchains.
• Moderated by Anthony Day from Deloitte Ireland, Charles Hoskinson from Input Output (IOHK) provided his very interesting perspective on permissioned blockchains and how the work IOHK are doing in Africa could on board millions of new coffee farmers to the cryptocurrency space via the creation of digital identities.

Avivah Litan

• Avivah Litan wrote a blog on Amazon’s new Quantum Ledger Database (QLDB) which is seen as a challenge to permissioned blockchains.
• It is predicted that it will be simpler for organisations to implement than permissioned blockchains governed by consortia.
• The blog post questions the value of permissioned blockchains if they are not using key tenants of blockchain such as decentralised consensus and tokenization.

Brian Behlendorf

• At Coindesk’s Consensus conference last month Brian Behlendorf of Hyperledger explained how building consortia in the enterprise blockchain space can be challenging.
• He outlined the 3 basic types of enterprise blockchain consortia there are.
