If you haven't heard of the controversial rapper from New York by now here is a quick backstory. Tekashi69, or Daniel Hernandez was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 8th 1996. In 2014 he began his career as a rapper and song writer. Tekashi did not have a crazy life story like most rappers do, in fact he was raised in a nice family as a Christian.

So how does such a good kid end up being hated by everyone? Well, when 6ix9ine started his rap career he knew he would need some kind of push or clout. He went to a local gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods and offered them a percentage of his money to join their gang so he can get protection and street cred. As 6ix9ine’s fame rose so did his problems with the Nine Trey Bloods. The gang eventually started using him and committing crimes against him. Although this was going on 6ix9ine was still contributing to the gangs crimes, but the trust between them was no longer there.

The beef between 6ix9ine and the Nine Trey Bloods runs deep. If there is such thing as a street code it was definitely broken. As 6ix9ine’s manager the gang started stealing money from him leaving him with less than half of what he would make. They also kidnapped him, attempted to kidnap his mother, and also slept with the mother of his child.

At this time the gang was being investigated by Homeland Security for racketeering and other crimes. 6ix9ine was sought out by the FBI and offered a deal, if he gave them information on the gang he would not end up spending the same amount of time in federal prison as they would. Of course 6ix9ine accepted. While he was working with the feds to bust them he found out that the gang was planning on killing him through wire tap phone call.

Finally the trial came and all eyes were on 6ix9ine, was he really going to snitch? During the trial against the Nine Trey Bloods 6ix9ine recalled every gruesome detail of the gang. He gave names, dates, and locations of every instance. The hip hop community was stunned by 6ix9ine, calling him a rat and a traitor. 6ix9ine ended up dodging 47 years in prison, only serving two and because of Covid19 he was allowed an early release.

Since 6ix9ine has been out of prison he released a new song “Gooba” which is essentially him trolling other rappers for calling him a rat.

6ix9ine has always been a hot topic of debate. Did he do the right thing? Is he a marketing genius? Or was he just simply trying to survive? Whatever the case is 6ix9ine is now the most popular rapper to date, and will continue making headlines for his controversial past.
