New Updates
I’ve just made a few small updates to Nichetester.
Favicons
The first is that I’ve finally made favicons work for published test pages — now whatever logo you choose will automatically become the favicon of your test page, with the correct background:
No more “loading…”
All Nichetester test sites are isomorphic web apps — they’re rendered on the server for the initial load, then Javascript loads in the background so that when you change pages it happens instantly. However, there was a small bug where when the Javascript for certain components (notably the subtitle on the landing page) was loading, they’d quickly go from being correct, to saying “loading…”, back to being correct again, generally quickly enough that it was easy to miss but still a bit annoying.
As of today this is eliminated! Now the page will continue to match its pre-rendered version until the user navigates elsewhere.
Pricing page
I’ve also added a “Pricing” page to the Nichetester homepage. I haven’t actually implemented any billing yet, this is just to see how having pricing there impacts beta signups, but I intend to implement it at some point down the track… but don’t worry, all existing users will be grandfathered into the existing free beta, at least until some kind of big functionality change happens. The price I’m looking at at the moment is $19 per month, charged on publishing a site. So it’ll be free to sign up, use all the business plan generation tools and create your site, but to put it up on the internet will cost $19, and to keep it up will be $19 / month thereafter. When you cancel your billing I won’t be deleting any data, so naturally you’ll be free to stop paying, take your page down then put it back up later.
Let me know what you think and how you’re enjoying NicheTester!
