Is blogging still a thing?

This URL has changed a lot since I obtained it and has hosted mostly bogs, though they usually end up going dead so it’s just a matter of time until activity stops. I usually start strong, posting daily then drop to weekly and then just drops off completely. Same thing happened to my journal.

I don’t even really keep up with much blogs like I used to and usually only read something that I find interesting in social media, usually based off the title or the comment that the poster made. Guess the micro-blogging style of Facebook and Twitter eliminated the need to talk about one’s week and the like plus we’ve gotten so lazy that we often prefer the YouTube vlog so we don’t have to read.

But why is it that reading is considered boring by most? Is it because it requires paying more attention and using your brain more? Do you actually use more of your brain when reading than just numbly watching a video? Often a video of someone going about their day or even just talking about their day…like why is that so interesting? Wouldn’t it be more interesting for me to go out and take part in some adventure and would rather see someone go to the store or even watch a video of someone just watching whatever is on TV? It even sounds stupid just writing about what the situation is.

Anyways, off to do some housework before going into reading a book about Ruby on Rails…or would you prefer I make a video of myself doing the dishes so you can watch over the web?
