I started watching the movie thinking it would be difficult to pay attention to or keep track but turned out to be quite the opposite and was quite interesting, even with the sexism that she faces and all of the guys she is involved with. This is one of those TV movies, as per the IMDB entry, but is worth a watch and specially by the younger crowd.

The subject has been touched on before by other TV movies, don’t think that any theatrical releases have actually touched on this subject. The story revolves around this girl that decides to take a leap year, meaning she decides not to attend college after graduating, and decides to start a blog about her life but changing several details to make it look more perfect in a certain way, since she doesn’t exactly have the perfect life. Several subjects the movie touches are quite real in the life of a lot of women nowadays, with the sexism and violence that is faced by them daily. Personally I do dislike when there’s cheating among the couples, like if you’re the type of person that can’t exactly commit to being with one person then just be upfront about it and say that you either want an open relationship or just opt to not be in a relationship, but I digress as this is quite a complex subject.

The story itself is told through what she posts on the blog, as the end shows that things are quite different from what we have been shown in the whole movie and has quite a sad ending but feels very real.

I really liked the list of truths that is given to her by one of the characters of the movie, with several points detailing money, relationships, marriage, sex, and ends with telling her that there isn’t such a thing as happily ever after and that things only get worse.

They all deny the allegations of having any sexual relations with her, which is typical if you ask me but they are quite doubtful as well because of the fact that she changed several details in her blog postings, meaning that they could have been fantasies that she had, but then again she was a minor in most of the movie.

Definitely worth a watch and I recommend it. Gave it 5 stars on Netflix.
