The Boombox Project stands for freedom. 🦅

Lyle Owerko is a renowned San Francisco and New York based photographer, filmmaker and “pop-culture junkie”. He focuses primarily on documenting our modern age through his art. His photography and editorials projects regularly take him to Africa, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Central America. In the past, Lyle has done work for Time Magazine, MTV, Sundance Channel, and more.

Lyle’s artistic career first rose to prominence back in 2001 when two planes crashed into The Twin Towers in New York City. Lyle captured a photograph of the attack and it later became featured on the cover of Time Magazine. This cover was voted into the top 50 Time Magazine Covers of all time by AndySowards.com.

Lyle first created the boombox project in 2003. It brings one back to their childhood — of a simpler era, when the boombox was the portal to the creative world.

Prints of the boombox project have been collected by very notable people such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Kanye West.

“Gold Boombox” — a 1 of 1 from Lyle’s Nifty project

Lyle is delighted to be a Nifty Gateway launch partner, stating “The platform is a terrific embodiment between the idea of creation, which has always been about voicing perspective and new technology, which is about forging into new frontiers.”

For the first time ever, a project as important and impactful as the Boombox project is coming into the NFT medium.

This represents a foundational shift for Lyle, and for the art world — never has someone so important and high profile created purely digitally native works that mean so much.

His project is now live at niftygateway.com! All 6 of his Nifties are shown below.
